"Getting
on board"
Angel investor Sig Mosley, of Imlay Investments Inc., has been
tapped to serve as the chairman of the Entrepreneurs Foundation
of the Southeast (EFSE), the newly launched regional chapter
of a Silicon Valley-based philanthropy group.
Richard
E. Steele, a principal with executive search firm Korn/Ferry
International, was named vice chairman, and attorney Neil Grayson
of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP will serve as
treasurer for the upcoming year.
Wayne Hodges,
the director of the Advanced Technology Development Center on
the edge of the Georgia Tech campus, has been named to the board.
Hodges
says many of the 20 to 30 early-stage companies that use office
space at ATDC are interested in volunteering their time or donating
a small percentage of stock to local charities, but the entrepreneurs
don't know how to go about it.
"Young
companies are so focused on just staying alive that they don't
know how to get involved with the community that supports them,"
he said.
The EFSE
is a philanthropic organization that asks member companies to
donate a small percentage of pre-IPO stock, which is distributed
to local charities and community service groups. Member companies
also are encouraged to compensate employees for a few hours
of volunteer time each month. Rhen Cain, former CEO of Directo
Inc., is president and CEO of the EFSE.
